YOUR ROLE:

The VP, Business Development, is responsible for building inter- and intra-agency relationships, consultant relationships, optimizing the processes that drive growth, and managing the end-to-end new business process for inbound opportunities. While new business is everyone's business, you'll focus your strategic thinking, interpersonal skills, organizational prowess, and stellar communication abilities to help us identify and convert new opportunities.

You will effectively influence people and resources across our network to successfully respond to incoming opportunities and proactively go after new ones. In this role, you must be a composer, orchestrator, influencer, and driver. And you must be able to manage career growth and development of 1-2 direct reports as assigned.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

RFI, RFP AND PITCHES (50%)

  • Devise pitch strategy and provides strategic guidance to pitch team throughout process.
  • Able to fluently represent RAPP's offering and how it can be tailored to specific client needs.
  • Contributes to strategic content development for RFPs and development of pitch stories with the pitch lead.
  • Leads content sourcing and quality control across all aspects of capabilities, credentials, and pitch-related material.
  • Runs all stages of RFP completion and pitch presentation development and readiness.
  • Defines, socializes, and adheres to pitch RACIs which may or may not include being the single point of contact with pitch source (consultant, sourcing, procurement, inter-Omnicom contact).
  • Drives the process for end-to-end completion of RFIs, partnering with office-specific leadership teams and network contacts as needed.
  • Adheres to established pitch activation process including pitch alerts, Teams and file structure and storage, pitch briefs and backgrounders.

OPERATIONS (20%)

  • Creates and implements internal process working in partnership with RAPP discipline leadership, ensuring the new business process is executed in synchronicity with broader agency processes.
  • Facilitates pitch retrospectives to collect and document learnings and provides recommendations for future optimizations or best practices.
  • Manages ongoing pipeline report and associated internal reporting needs, driving accountability with key stakeholders.
  • Maintains pitch library including all related pitch materials and files.
  • Manages library of case studies and relevant content, including file storage and organization.
  • Leverages Omni AI, and other AI tools, to modernize the way we work across new business (e.g., RFI generator) to drive greater level of efficiencies and effectiveness.

IN-MARKET NETWORKING AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (20%)

  • Build and maintain productive relationships across our NA and global network, OPMG & OMC peers, industry peers and search consultants.
  • Proactively participate in building agency brand perception and positive reputation.
  • Serve as first line of contact for prospective clients.
  • Help in the creation of specific prospecting strategies and may directly manage pursuits.
  • Support the development and evolution of proactive and reactive sales materials.

NEW BUSINESS PLAN DEVELOPMENT (10%)

  • Partners with the Growth and Reputation team to develop annual growth plan, aligned to RAPP NA annual business & financial plan.
  • Integrates with other regions (e.g., RAPP UK) to have a consistent global approach, and with the Reputation team's plan and strategies.
  • Ensures all new business activity is aligned to the annual plan execution and recalibrated throughout the year as necessary based on financial goals for RAPP NA.
  • Strategically reviews the plan each quarter and give recommendations for (re)focus.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field preferred
  • 10+ years of advertising or marketing with CRM, business development, and holding company experience with passion for precision marketing
  • Key account (Fortune 500) experience in winning, onboarding, managing business
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in consultative and service-based selling
  • Proven success with seven figure sales transactions and multi-month sales cycles
  • Proven track record of strategic leadership and partnership
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to develop trusted and influential relationships at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills including clear, thoughtful, and influential verbal and written communications
  • Highly collaborative

  • Ability to work across US time zones to support opportunities across North America
  • Ability to travel up to 20% within North America to support teams locally during RFPs

Our Hybrid Work Model:

RAPP's current hybrid model is designed to enable in-person connections and collaboration that is core to our culture, while also supporting flexibility for all employees. As such, we have the option to work from home two days per week, if we'd like.

This range is specific to NYC and multiple factors are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: skill set, experience and training, certifications; etc. This is an exempt position.
