Job Description
The Vice President Revenue Cycle Operations and Vendor Management for the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) (which includes the MSHS and the Faculty Practice Plan) provides strategic direction and oversight Revenue Cycle vendor management, optimization and improvement across the medical center. The VP RCM Ops/Vendor Management will report to the Chief Revenue Officer of the MSHS.
The scope of the role includes overall leadership for the revenue cycle optimization and vendor strategy for revenue cycle functions across the MSHS. The VP RCM Ops/Vendor Management will have direct management responsibility for the following functions across the MSHS: RCM vendor strategy, pricing, compliance and revenue cycle optimization. This role will work closely with EPIC technology teams, legal and supply chain partner with high performing vendors and optimize revenue cycle performance.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :
Extensive demonstrated success in a revenue cycle department in a large not-for-profit/academic health system facility or corporate environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills, experience with making presentations to, and dealing with senior management.
Financial management skills, including the ability to analyze financial data for operations and vendor performance.
Strong leadership skills to motivate cross-departmental teams’ performance towards excellence using team concepts and consensus-building management styles.
Advanced/ effective interpersonal, written/ verbal communication, and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate complex finance concepts to others without a finance background.
Demonstrated ability to engage in positive, powerful persuasion with individuals or groups with diverse opinions and/ or agendas, leading to outcomes that meet identified goals.
Ability to enlist cooperation and build teams committed to carrying out initiatives in environments that may be resistant to change and not under the incumbent’s direct authority.
Ability to translate key performance indicator levels into a finance-based business case, then design, implement, and manage more effective/ efficient processes.
The ability to maintain a high level of positive energy/ creativity during periods of elevated work demands.
Ability to prioritize multiple objectives in a rapidly changing environment and deliver quality outcomes.
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships at all levels throughout the organization.
Strong Leadership skills.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsive revenue cycle operations experience, including five years of performance improvement, vendor management, and supervisory/leadership experience.
Strong working knowledge of end-to-end revenue cycle operations, including market knowledge of third-party vendors in denials, write-offs, and workforce management tools.
Ability to translate KPIs into a finance-based business case, then design, implement, and manage more effective and efficient processes.
Experience with C-Level report outs.
Epic expertise strongly preferred.
Education : Bachelor’s Degree Required; Master’s Preferred
Compensation
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $250,000.00 - $400,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
Responsibilities
Ensures the overall vendor strategy aligns with/supports business objectives and is focused enterprise-wide to enhance the patient experience, employee engagement, and overall revenue cycle performance.
Leads the effort to build revenue cycle vendor evaluation and selection process for the integrated revenue cycle team.
Organizes vendor contracts, aligns contract terms and pricing and works closely with other revenue cycle leaders and department to optimize vendor performance.
Builds effective, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across departments (e.g., DTP, legal, finance, supply chain and clinical departments)
Collaborates with financial and DTP contributors to develop and operationalize a transformation roadmap.
Advises on selection, manages the RFP process, works collaboratively with legal on contract terms and manages renewal process.
Works collaboratively with revenue cycle leaders on RCM continued optimization with workflow, EPIC and vendor partnerships.
Creates workforce productivity and quality data analysis and presents to revenue cycle leadership to identify areas of improvement and education.
Works collaboratively with RCM leaders on system implementations, conversions, and upgrades for revenue cycle applications.
Provides vendor score cards on performance as outlined in the contract SOW deliverables.
Assesses new technology, performs vendor assessments, creates ROI analyses, and recommends new technology.
Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with Revenue Cycle leaders, key stakeholders, and fosters a strong working relationship with key strategic partners.
Maintains strong understanding of revenue cycle metrics and leads team in building plans to support operational departments to achieve best practice performance through strong analytical capabilities, process improvement identification, and technology enhancements.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the continuum of the revenue cycle.
Improves operations through technology and process improvement.
Effectively collaborates with DTP and project management leaders for the successful planning and execution of revenue cycle-related applications/systems as part of information system transformation projects, including the integration of enterprise-wide clinical and revenue cycle systems designed to have a strategic impact on the core operations and processes of the organization.
Maintains strong customer relationships with key strategic partners.
Ensures appropriate functional strategic partners are engaged throughout the process.
Monitors and provides regular reporting to senior management on key performance metrics for revenue cycle vendor performance.
Brings developing issues and recommended actions to the attention of senior leadership and governance committees.
Develops a high-performing team as measured through the achievement of benchmark process outcomes, audit and compliance results, financial goals, and employee satisfaction.
Stays current with government regulations regarding billing requirements.
Establish goals, objectives, and budgets for assigned areas, and monitors/manages to ensure achievement once approved.
Ensures all HIPAA privacy and security standards are adhered to.
Performs other duties as required by the CRO or other C-level officers.
