Bookkeep.com Inc. Vice President of Engineering in New York, New York

Leverage advanced knowledge of computer information systems, computer science, and software development-related principles and methodologies to establish and ensure implementation of the Company’s software engineering initiatives, technical vision, and operation. Specific duties include:•Establish a clear technical vision for the engineering team aligned with the Company's mission of accounting automation and identify key technical challenges, set ambitious goals, and define a roadmap for product development and innovation.•Lead the development and execution of the Company’s various software and highly technical product roadmap, working closely with product management, design, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality accounting automation solutions that meet customer needs and drive business growth.•Ensure the engineering team maintains high standards of technical excellence, including code quality, performance, security, and scalability. •Continuously research and monitor emerging technologies and best practices in accounting automation and software engineering to then implement in the Company’s engineering practice.•Lead recruitment efforts to attract top engineering talent, focusing on individuals with expertise in financial connectors using Ruby on Rails or Node.js and provide mentorship, training, and career development opportunities to help team members grow and succeed.•Ensure the collaboration between engineering and other departments, such as sales, marketing, and customer support and work closely with these teams to gather feedback, prioritize features, and drive customer success.•Manage technical and professional resources for the engineering team effectively, including monitoring the technical engineering budget, maintain sufficient personnel for staffing of projects, and ensure the infrastructure of the Company’s technology remains sustainable.•Identify and mitigate technical risks that could impact product development or business operations and implement robust processes and safeguards to ensure the reliability, security, and compliance of accounting automation solutions.•Maintain a deep understanding of customer needs and pain points related to accounting automation and use customer feedback and data-driven insights to inform product decisions and prioritize development efforts.•Uphold and promote the company's culture and values, including a commitment to innovation, integrity, and customer satisfaction. •Will supervise 3 professionals, including 2 Junior Engineers and 1 Senior Engineer.May telecommute 90% of the workweek from any U.S. location.Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or closely related quantitative field, plus four (4) years of experience performing software system and application development through the software development lifecycle. Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include the following:•Four (4) years of experience in the consumption of APIs of Payments, E-commerce, Accounting/Fintech providers such as Shopify, Square, QuickBooks & Soho.•Three (3) years of experience designing Web Architecture.•Three (3) years of experience in PostgreSQL or another SQL database.•Two (2) years of experience utilizing Node.js and Ruby on Rails.•Two (2) years of experience in the front-end JavaScript such Vue.js/React.js and HTML•One (1) year of experience with Linux command line, REST or GraphQL.•One (1) year of experience with using AWS or similar cloud providers for hosting the project.Job site: 410 Atlantic Avenue, 2nd Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11217-1704. 40 hours per week, 9:00am to 6:00pm. Salary: $219,440 per year, plus standard company benefits.
