Jefferies LLC Sustainability and Transition Strategist in New York, New York
Interact with institutional investor clients to advise on all matters in connection with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and sustainable finance. Analyze regulatory requirements for U.S.-listed capital markets, asset manager, and private equity clients. Review sustainable finance disclosure regulatory requirements and principal adverse impact disclosures as well as stock selections. Understand active versus passive and factor-based portfolio construction. Advise U.S.-listed companies in their operations in Europe to evaluate shareholders and regulators on broader sustainability strategy and compliance under corporate sustainability reporting requirements. Perform financial research on ESG and sustainable finance. Write financial reports and conduct financial research that covers ESG and sustainable finance by working across all sectors and stocks in the Americas. Lead client relationships with senior buy-side counterparts by performing detailed financial analysis and making investment recommendations. Communicate ESG developments and requirements to corporate (both public and private) and other relevant ESG organizations. Analyze and interpret financial data related to sustainability market to identify relevant trends.Requirements:Master’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Financial Mathematics, Financial Management, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role* *All of the required experience must have included experience with: conducting financial research on transitions to renewable energy and communicating such research to investors and companies; analyzing financial data of various energy sources such as wind and solar; analyzing various financing options for renewable energy and their returns; assessing the workings and financial implication of early stage decarbonization technology; conducting up to date financial market assessments of the state of the electricity markets and power grid for investors to understand how best to allocate capital; and advising companies (public and private) with governance and strategy decisions related to sustainable business and long- term growth.Position requires domestic travel 20% of the timeTelecommuting is permitted from any location in the U.S.
