As a Senior Product Designer for Research Experience, you will be responsible for designing and delivering meaningful and impactful research and content experiences for our customers, directly contributing to PitchBook's market success. You will play a critical role in structuring and optimizing editorial research workflows, ensuring that private equity and investment professionals can discover, synthesize, and apply analyst research, company reports, and market financial documentation with ease. Your expertise in content strategy and information architecture will be essential in shaping how research content is presented, categorized, and surfaced, ultimately enhancing the usability and discoverability of key insights to help investors make informed decisions.

With your expertise in user-centered design and content strategy, you will be responsible for crafting holistic and intuitive editorial content experiences through deep insights, strong analytical skills, and innovative information architecture. You will define how research content is structured, tagged, and delivered, ensuring investment professionals can quickly search for, find, and engage with relevant financial analysis. Leveraging both traditional UX methods and emerging technologies like AI-driven search and recommendation systems, you will empower users to navigate vast amounts of data and editorial content effortlessly. Additionally, you will partner with Product and Engineering team members throughout the entire product lifecycle, ensuring seamless integration of search and content experiences while maintaining alignment with business objectives.

You will be expected to own and drive the research content experience across the PitchBook product portfolio, collaborating closely with other designers and product team members to deliver a cohesive and high-quality research experience. You will play a key role in defining and refining search and discovery functionalities, helping investment professionals efficiently locate and leverage the content they need. Your contributions will shape the direction and strategy of content-driven product features, prioritizing opportunities that enhance editorial content usability and accessibility. In addition to product design, you will actively engage in PitchBook's design culture, collaborating with other designers, refining our content design systems and standards, and leading or contributing to key product design initiatives and programs.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Expertly utilize user-centered design and systems thinking skills in your day-to-day work to create solutions for complex data and user workflow challenges while maintaining a highly usable and scalable product experience
  • Conduct user research and data analysis to understand user needs, behaviors, and motivators that lead to engagement and realization of customer value
  • Design and optimize the editorial research experience by developing robust information architecture, search and navigation systems, and content structures that enhance findability, content discovery, organization, and efficient information consumption to support user decision-making
  • Transform static editorial content into dynamic and interactive experiences, leveraging structured data, AI-driven recommendations, and visualization techniques to enhance engagement and decision-making for investment professionals
  • Partner with editorial teams, research analysts, and product managers to align content strategy with business and user needs
  • Partner with product management and engineering team members to understand customers and markets, identify high-impact customer and business problems, and define the product experience strategy and solutions to solve them
  • Develop customer journey maps, task and user flows, and design concepts to inform product strategies, priorities, and solutions that deliver customer and business outcomes
  • Translate abstract concepts into simple, elegant, and innovative designs expressed in sketches, diagrams, rapid prototypes, and final design executions
  • Identify connections between product areas and features and collaborate to develop cross-team strategies and designs to deliver holistic solutions that create exceptional customer value
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of your design solutions and identify strategies for enhancement and improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement in your work and with your product teams; seek new methods and practices that lead to greater impact and value
  • Contribute to evolving design practices, tools, methods, and the design maturity of our organization
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Design, Human Centered Design, Psychology, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a Product Design/UX role, ideally in a large business or enterprise environment working on complex data and productivity solutions
  • Expert-level knowledge of user-centered design practices and demonstrated experience applying them to deliver end-to-end projects and achieve business and market outcomes
  • Deep understanding of taxonomy design, metadata structures, tagging strategies, and content categorization for large-scale editorial archives
  • Experience designing for long-form content, research reports, news articles, and financial documentation in a way that enhances readability and engagement
  • Strong knowledge of content discoverability principles, including search optimization, recommendation engines, and AI-driven content personalization
  • A portfolio of past work including concepts, ideation, flows, and completed designs that demonstrate expertise in information architecture, content strategy, and the ability to solve enterprise-level design challenges
  • Strong demonstration of strategic thinking, business acumen, use of modern design best practices, and ability to create innovative and meaningful experiences that deliver user value and business results
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate and support design decisions and how they add value to the product
  • Strong analytical skills, using qualitative and quantitative data to guide design decisions
  • Experience balancing multiple projects, organizing priorities, and delivering with discipline with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Intellectual curiosity, structured thinking, and a collaboration-driven interaction style with the ability to build relationships, foster trust, and develop shared understanding
  • Passion and enthusiasm for your craft and aspiration to excellence
  • Proficiency with Figma, collaboration and analysis tools (Miro, Lucid, Mixpanel, Fullstory) with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily

Compensation

  • Annual base salary: $146,000-$175,000
  • Target annual bonus percentage: 12%

Starting pay will be based on several factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be different ranges for candidates by location.

Working Conditions:

We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. We also know that it's helpful to have some flexibility to work remotely. Most roles work in the office 3+ days/week, and some are expected to work in the office 4-5 days/week. The current expectation for this role is that you are working in the office 3+ days/week and that you are in the office full-time during the training period, for which the length varies by role. During an initial phone screen, the team will discuss expectations for this specific position.

The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
