Amazon Sr. Data Engineer, Deal Tooling and Insights, Strategic Customer Engagements in New York, New York

If so, we are looking for a Sr. Data Engineer to join the Strategic Customer Engagements team to develop a scalable data analytics platform. The Strategic Customer Engagements Deal Team works with our customers on commercial private pricing opportunities to meet their desired business outcomes while ensuring alignment with AWS business objectives.
In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end development of data engineering solutions from the ground up. You should have expertise in the creation and management of datasets and the proven ability to translate data into meaningful insights through collaboration with Product Managers, Business Intelligence Engineers (BIEs), and business partners. You should be passionate about designing scalable analytics solutions for a fast-growing business.
The right candidate will possess excellent business and communication skills, be able to work with business owners to develop and define key business questions, and be able to collaborate with Product Managers, BIEs, and Data Scientists to extract data that will answer those questions. You should have a solid understanding of how to build efficient and scalable data infrastructure and data models.
Key job responsibilities
Design, implement, and support an analytical data infrastructure providing access to large datasets and computing power.
Develop the end-to-end automation of data pipelines, making datasets readily-consumable by product and engineering teams.
Manage AWS resources including EC2, S3, Glue, RDS, Redshift, etc.
Optimize data engineering systems for performance, cost, reliability, recoverability, and security.
Automate data quality monitoring, testing and validation processes.
Act as the subject matter expert for the data structure and usage.
Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS big data technologies.
Explore and learn the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency.
Collaborate with Business Intelligence Engineers (BIEs) to recognize and help adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers.
Support designing and analyzing statistical tests (e.g., A/B tests) and applying statistical methods to inform data-driven decisions.

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of data engineering experience
Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
Experience with SQL
Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
Experience mentoring team members on best practices
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR
Experience operating large data warehouses
Strong version control practices using Git
CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
