The Team
The Company Financials team provides our clients with fast and accurate market-moving data so they can stay on top of their game: broker estimates, financial filings, and any other dataset that is useful to understand financial performance in the equity markets. Our products run on intelligence and industry-specific insights provided by our industry teams. We combine financial modeling, industry expertise, data management, and technical skills to curate critical metrics and drive insights from our data.

What’s the role?
The Company Financials Data Quality team is looking for a Data Quality Engineer who thrives on solving complex problems with real customer impact. Our challenges are often open-ended, requiring a structured, scientific, and iterative approach to distinguish success from setbacks.
In this role, you will work with nuanced, industry-specific datasets to drive product insights at scale. To do this effectively, you’ll develop a deep technical and practical understanding of how data is ingested, processed, and consumed across our technology stack. This knowledge will enable you to improve data quality and ensure accurate, reliable information for both internal and external clients.
You are proactive and resourceful, leveraging insights from both infrastructure data processing and statistical analysis to drive meaningful outcomes. You’ll apply this expertise to improve our anomaly detection systems, reducing errors in client-facing data by analyzing large volumes of information and ensuring its accuracy
Collaboration is key. You will work closely with stakeholders across Product, Data, and Engineering teams, influencing decision-making at all levels. Your ability to clearly communicate progress, adjust strategies as new information emerges, and focus on practical, business-driven solutions will be essential to your success.
We'll trust you to:
Develop and implement strategies to analyze processes and data quality issues, ensuring datasets are fit for purpose.
Understand how data moves through complex systems and determine the best ways to safely and effectively expose it to stakeholders.
Gather and synthesize feedback from internal and external workflow users, including clients, vendors, and global company financial teams, into meaningful action plans.
Assess the software development lifecycle and recommend right-sized solutions based on a product’s development stage.
Leverage technical knowledge of Bloomberg’s proprietary or open-source stack to implement high-standard, innovative solutions.
You'll need to have:
A bachelor's degree or higher in Statistics, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, or a related STEM field.3+ years of experience in the financial/fintech services industry, including exchanges, market data providers, or financial technology institutions.Experience—either professional or academic—working with machine learning models, including data ingestion and output, with the ability to explain their functionality and trade-offs.
Familiarity with system architecture, particularly tracking data flow through large, heterogeneous systems.
Strong coding skills and experience using object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Python) in development or production environments to address data quality issues.
Knowledge of various databases, schemas, and data modeling, as well as experience ingesting structured and unstructured formats (e.g., PDF, HTML, XBRL, JSON, CSV).
Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and adapt tasks effectively, maintaining a customer-focused approach.
The ability to formulate and test sound hypotheses in ambiguous situations using efficient validation methods.
Strong collaboration skills to work across departments and regions, along with excellent written and verbal communication abilities
We’d love to see:
Advanced degree/Master’s degree in a Finance or STEM subject and/or Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) designation
Experience in Bloomberg Company Financials products, Bloomberg Terminal fluency, and/or enterprise financial data products
Familiarity with use cases of sophisticated statistical methods such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Natural Language Processing
Someone who has experience developing methodologies for high precision & high recall anomaly detection for non-normally distributed, high frequency data
