GENERAL DUTIES
Performs supervisory and/or complex technical functions in laboratories in support of coursework.
-Maintains, fabricates, modifies, and repairs equipment
-Determines equipment requirements, prepares purchase specifications and coordinates acquisitions
-Trains and supervises College Laboratory Technicians, College Assistants, and other laboratory staff
-Manages set up, maintenance, and organization of student laboratories
-Maintains safety and hygiene standards
-Documents laboratory activities
-Performs related duties as assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Department of Art and Art History (http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/art) at Hunter College of The City University of New
York invites applications for a Senior College Laboratory Technician. This position reports to the Director of Operations at
205 Hudson.
Responsibilities:
Senior College Laboratory Technician is responsible for the safe and healthy operation of workshop and lab facilities
primarily at the 205 Hudson campus (or any subsequent iterations) and is integrated into the curricular use of these spaces,
which means interfacing regularly with students, faculty, and staff in our programs. While primarily working at 205 Hudson,
this position will also work with associated workshops, labs, and equipment at the 68th Street campus. Additionally, this
position acts as Deputy Director of Operations at 205 Hudson, which has limited full time staff.
Responsibilities also include:
-Create and maintain a culture of safety and access in specialized shops
-Oversee safety concerns of operating industrial workshops, darkrooms, and other labs
-Coordinate training and workshops
-Perform inventories and audits of departmental equipment and tools
-Work and coordinate with Hunter EHS department
-Oversee building common storage, specifically hallway spaces
-Create and maintain manuals, forms, and documents in relation to facilities and tools
-Liaison between programs and student exhibitions (MFA Thesis Exhibition; BFA Degree Show)
-Communicate policy and procedures clearly to students, faculty, and staff on a regular basis
-Contributing to the process of student studio space allocation
-Available periodically for program orientations and special events outside of common work hours
-May hire and supervise part time staff and contract workers
-Working closely and at the direction of the Director of Operations at 205 Hudson Street
-Deputy Director of Operations responsibilities at 205 Hudson
-Other duties as assigned by Department Chair

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma with a minimum of eight years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate's degree may be substituted for two years' experience and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years' experience. This position may also require the ability to supervise others.
COMPENSATION
$72,319 - $81,246
