Exciting opportunity to join an expanding clinical service at the new Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center on the Lower East Side!

The Mount Sinai Health System is looking for a psychiatrist to join our team in a new transformational, state-of-the-art, community-oriented facility for behavioral health with integrated services for mental health, substance abuse, physical health, and social service needs on the Lower East Side. The Mount Sinai Behavioral Health Center offers opportunities for leadership, quality development, teaching, and scholarship within the Department of Psychiatry and the Mount Sinai Health System.

The Lower East Side is in New York County and is one of the best places to live in New York. This vibrant downtown neighborhood is a popular nightlife destination—its streets are lined with trendy places to drink, dance and hear live music. Many of the area’s museums and restaurants serve as reminders of its immigrant history.

The Comprehensive Evaluation Service (CES) and new Express Behavioral Health Care Service (EC) offer scheduled and walk-in outpatient evaluations. This “no wrong door” approach provides a single point of entry into the full-continuum of ambulatory services offered by the Center. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, this full-time Psychiatrist position in CES and EC provides direct care to patients who present for an evaluation or short-term, outpatient treatment and supervises other clinical staff and trainees. The psychiatrist reports to the Medical Director of CES/EC.

Qualifications

Clinical/Technical/Service

  1. Based on best practices, assumes the evaluation, treatment and supervision of outpatients at the discretion/direction of the Medical Director

  2. Correctly documents all outpatient services in a timely and accurate manner.

  3. Supervises the work of assigned residents or fellows; reviews and attests to the resident documentation, and directly treats patients

  4. Signs medical records and related patient care documents as required by regulations

  5. Available to collaborate with other health care professionals as assigned by the CES Medical Director

  6. Participates in the peer review process

  7. Participates in departmental meetings

  8. Participates in direct patient care activities as specified in the delineation of privileges and contract

  9. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served

  10. Participates in Quality and Safety initiatives of the department

These duties may be modified from time to time by the Chair/Director based on Institutional needs.

Compensation range from 240K to 265K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, historical collections, and hospital/community need. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range. The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of day-to-day CES/EC clinical services and operations to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the program

  • Provides clinical coverage of the CES/EC Service and associated services when needed

  • Supervises clinical staff including psychiatrists, social workers, psychiatry residents, and psychologists

  • Monitors clinical staff training needs and implements quality improvement strategies

  • Collaborates with the Medical Director of CES in quality and safety initiatives

  • Ensures complete and timely documentation

  • Contributes to regulatory compliance and continual accreditation readiness

  • Collaborates across MSBHC services to facilitate access to evaluations including ambulatory services, inpatient behavioral health services, medical services, substance use treatment services, and community referrals

  • Models outstanding professionalism, high quality patient care, educational excellence, and a scholarly approach to work
