Overview
The DE Asset Management Data Steward is responsible for operationalizing data governance policy and practice in Distribution Engineering. In this role, the DE Asset Management Data Steward will ensure that the data needs of the business are met and that data consumers can leverage the data that they steward with confidence in its quality, traceability, and definition. They will develop deep subject matter expertise of the data that they steward and be a trusted advisor on the opportunities and constrains of the data in their charge, serving as a liaison between the business, IT, and control partners.Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities- Con Edison, a multibillion-dollar energy utility, is leading the clean energy transition in New York City and Westchester County. We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars annually to integrate new technologies into the grid that supports our transition into a carbon neutral utility
- Operationalize data governance (DG) policies, processes, and controls within their domain to promote data quality, transparency, and compliance.
- This is a hybrid in-office role with 3 days a week in the office at Con Edisons Union Square headquarters in Manhattan
- Own metadata management, ensuring data catalog, glossary, and quality rules are up to date and standards are followed when new assets are added.
- Lead evaluation and profiling of data quality, identifying anomalies and discrepancies and working with IT and data owners to develop controls that systematically solve for their resolution and ensure accuracy and quality of data through upstream and downstream pipelines.
- Create reports for and/or peer check reports created by internal Distribution Engineering and IT partner teams
- Lead local/domain-specific data management meetings to discuss issue resolution, prioritization, data security and other DG initiatives.
- Support cross-functional technology and business communications and collaboration between multiple Con Edison organizations
- Act as a key point of contact with IT as it relates to data, translating business needs into technical requirements.
- Help embed a data-driven mindset in the business, rationalizing data needs and ensuring that data supports business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Work with control partners and the DGO to:
- Ensure requirements for protecting sensitive information (structured, semi-structured & unstructured data) are communicated and complied with.
- Develop and enforce policy for domain specific data access and security.
- Track regular and ad hoc instances of data sharing.
- Develop and review domain specific documentation and job aids.
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required
- Ensure that safe work practices are followed, and the environment is fully protected in accordance with Company policy and governmental regulations
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience- Associate's Degree Degree in IT, data analysis, or Engineering Discipline and 10 years' work experience in IT or Engineering field or
- Bachelor's Degree Degree in IT, data analysis, or Engineering Discipline and 8 years' work experience in IT or Engineering field or
- Master's Degree Degree in IT, data analysis, or engineering disciplines and 6 years' work experience in IT or Engineering field
- Demonstrated organizational capabilities and successful management of detailed, complex initiatives. Required
- Demonstrated agility and flexibility to deal with ambiguity and comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Required
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Required
- Understanding of basic principles of data architecture. Required
- Experience working with relational data bases and data models. Required
- Working Knowledge of SQL and building queries Required
- Experience querying, profiling, and analyzing large data sets. Required
- Experience developing data standards and definitions. Required
- Experience overseeing IT projects. Preferred
- Strong communication, presentation, writing and analytical skills. Preferred
- Experience with Python or R Preferred
