Project Engineer (New York, NY) Perform complex analyses for specific portions of broader engineering and geotechnical projects. Perform structural design of pile elements, SOE, and underpinning systems. Perform special engineering inspections, as needed. Supervise site exploration activities. Responsible for making correct interpretations of findings. Ensure that data collection and laboratory analyses are completed correctly, within budget and on time. Supervise conventional to moderately complex foundation construction activities and the firm’s personnel while in the field. Review shop drawings and contractor submittals. Attend regular jobsite meetings. Remain current on foundation construction techniques, including pile installation methods and equipment, and ground improvement techniques. Develop task and project budgets and schedules and perform task and project administrative activities (preparing progress reports reviewing project billings). Prepare progress reports and draft change orders. Perform and manage multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines. Monitor budgets, schedules, and project timelines. Minimize write-offs by keeping projects on budget. Prepare draft invoices, project billings, and assist in payment collections. Maintain working knowledge of risk management issues. Identifies construction activities that have potential risk to the project, the project team, and/or the firm, and report the information to the project supervisor. Demonstrates strong writing skills (organization, logic flow, grammar, clarity, appropriateness of work choice); can effectively organize, write and edit draft proposals and reports and other documents. Work with Staff and Senior Staff to improve efficiency and services performed. Provide direct oversight and management of Staff and Senior Staff for specific project assignments. Supervise, review, and approve work of staff. Remain knowledgeable in all Langan services for internal coordination and cross-selling purposes. Participate in interviewing and hiring of staff. Coaches, trains and motivates staff assigned to projects. Participate in the identification and pursuit of new clients, prepares proposals, learns to develop additional work within existing projects and attend business development meetings with new and existing clients. Master effective public speaking skills. Assist in preparing and giving client and other professional group presentations and participates in client meetings. Based on performance, may be asked to supervise junior engineers and other project staff. Partial virtual / work from home benefit available. Requires at least a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geology, EIT certification, and 3 years of geotechnical engineering experience. Must have experience with: performing complex analyses, structural design of pile elements and underpinning systems, and special engineering inspections; using strong understanding of codes and other regulatory requirements; demonstrated knowledge of quantitative/technical analyses and related software; planning, execution, or review of field investigations; observation of complex foundation and earthwork construction activities; identifying and implementing field and lab work solutions; preparing logs and reports. Base Salary: $96,138 - $133,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. This position is also eligible for straight-time overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program.
