Job Description

The Pharmacy Informatic Analyst (Beacon), serves as a part of the healthcare team at the MSHS and collaborates with other team members to provide optimal oncology care. The Pharmacy Informatic Analyst (Beacon) accepts responsibility, authority, accountability, and ownership for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures. They will be responsible for working with other clinical teams and end users within the organization and other outside parties as necessary to build and validate protocols/plans, configure and troubleshoot operational workflows and other technical issues. The analyst will configure, test, and coordinate Epic changes according to the decisions made by operational and technical SME’s. They will participate in initiatives by gathering and analyzing information, preparing structure documentation, present findings, and general troubleshooting as necessary. They will also provide clinical related support for cancer facilities across the system, which may include leading and participating in committees.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited College of Pharmacy (ACPE)

  • Three or more years working hospital oncology experience as a Beacon Pharmacy end user

  • Knowledge of pharmacy oncology

  • Experience in epic as a pharmacist end user

  • Experience as an epic builder

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Active Epic Beacon Certification

  • Active licensed pharmacist

  • Registered NYS pharmacist (must transfer within 6 months of hire date)

Responsibilities

  1. Development of end user requirements including project scope, development of system requirements, project plan, identifying resource requirements and development of testing and validation procedures.

  2. Drives the design of our EHR to support and enhance the delivery of patient care in the practice of oncology.

  3. Function as a resource to other members of the healthcare team in utilization of clinical EHR in the acute care and ambulatory environments, with special emphasis on medication safety; carries out all aspects of the job using good clinical judgment and problem-solving skills and assumes responsibility.

  4. Create and maintain a library of oncology treatment plans, supportive care plans, and therapy plans for standard patient care and research.

  5. Contribute to the effective process and workflow design, development and implementation within the EHR.

  6. Guide building and testing of Beacon changes/updates and analyzes other technical issues.

  7. Supports system upgrades and table maintenance.

  8. Collaborates with the Department of Pharmacy to refine and improve current applications.

  9. Along with other team members, provides 24/ 7 end user support for assigned applications.

  10. Maintenance of Pharmacy applications; logs project requests, status and completion dates for assigned projects.

  11. Programming and coding of supported applications to meet emergency needs.
