Job Description

Responsible for managing the front end operations and supervising scheduling staff of the Department. Ensures successful execution of administrative and billing functions and policies resulting in smooth administrative operations, patient and staff satisfaction, and a financially sound practice

Qualifications

Qualification:

  • Bachelor?s degree in administration or related field, or combination of equivalent experience and education

  • 3+ years operations experience (higher preferred); supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  1. Assist MD’s (faculty and voluntary) with computer training and access in order to do cases in the labs

  2. Monitors daily activities and generates short and long-term reports for department and hospital leadership as needed

  3. Works closely with staff to provide efficient flow

  4. Assures adequate administrative staff coverage during operating hours

  5. Oversees and resolves problems relating to systems including appointments, registration, physician referrals, medical records, staff/patient relations and billing

  6. Determines opportunities to improve efficiency and assure adequate patient access

  7. Performs special projects to evaluate methods and procedures for processing work or improving operating efficiency/effectiveness of the practice

  8. Develops alternative approaches where necessary

  9. Prepares (directly or indirectly) all necessary billing for patients and insurance companies

  10. Responsible for updating all office and medical staff on insurance regulations/requirements and changes that affect billing and collections

  11. Trains and offers ongoing instruction to the office staff on scheduling appointments; processing registrations; batching encounter forms; posting charges, diagnoses, payments and rejections in IDX and Eagle (where applicable)

  12. Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the departmental computer systems, including all IDX and Eagle applications

  13. Assists office staff with computer problems, questions and training

  14. Produces monthly statistical reports from the scheduling/procedure systems

  15. Ensures that month-end activities are completed prior to close of books – for both IDX and Eagle systems (including working on missing charge report, open encounters, pending visits)

Compensation Statement

Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $71713 - $107569 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
