Amazon is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team as Mechanical Design Manager. This person will work on the mechanical engineering design, strategy and initiatives for Amazon's Fulfillment Network across North America (NA) and Latin America (LATAM). This role will report directly to the North American Global Realty Engineering Design Manager. This role will be located in office with expected periodic travel.
The Mechanical Design Manager will be responsible for developing design basis, defining strategy and working on novel initiatives for stakeholders inside the company, as well as work with third-party engineering firms to ensure Amazon receives the optimal Mechanical design for the Fulfillment Network. The candidate will need to work with a multitude of internal stakeholders and organizations to drive the development and management of the MEP design specifications being deployed in North America and Latin America. A successful candidate must have project and program management experience, practical HVAC knowledge, should be comfortable in a fast-paced, technical environment and be able to partner with multiple stakeholders across the company to implement processes and programs that will ultimately drive cost out of building operations.
Key job responsibilities
Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Develop, manage, implement and maintain the MEP design standards.
Work with diverse stakeholders.
This role will be considered the Subject Matter Expert (SME) with regards to HVAC.
Implement strategies and processes to drive ongoing system commissioning in order to reduce Amazon’s energy consumption and building operational costs.
Manage blocking issues, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and meet committed delivery timelines.
Document and present strategies and periodic updates to internal and external audiences.
Develop and implement consistent and repeatable processes for new implementations.
Participate in business re-engineering activities to support acceptance, implementation and increase effectiveness for Building Design and Engineering teams. This includes working with several project teams regionally and sometimes globally.
Make appropriate trade-offs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.
Create specification documents, drive project schedules from design to release, and manage the production launch.

About the team
The Engineering team is responsible for managing the templates, design criteria, specifications and other design basis documentation for Amazon’s Fulfillment Network. This includes reviewing third party design packages, translating business requirements into technical solutions, and conducting studies on existing or new technologies. We value engineers who can identify novel solutions, present convincing business arguments, and excel at program management.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
3+ years of technical product or program management experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
3+ years of Mechanical Engineering design experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $197,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
