MetLife Lead Operational Risk Consultant in New York, New York
Role Value Proposition:
MetLife’s Operational Risk Management ("ORM") function within Global Risk Management is responsible for the design and implementation of company-wide policies, frameworks and tools enabling appropriate management of non-financial risks throughout the organization. ORM partners closely with various stakeholders across the enterprise to implement strong processes and effective controls, as well as to foster and embed a strong risk culture.
This position will report to MetLife’s centralized ORM function which is responsible for the global adoption and execution of MetLife’s non-financial risk management framework. The individual will provide critical strategy guidance working with GRM and other business and functional stakeholders in the global roll-out and ongoing execution of enhanced Non-Financial Risk Management capabilities.
The individual will report to the VP & Head of NFR Framework Governance & Reporting and will gain valuable experience working across the global risk management function.
Key Responsibilities:
Risk Committee preparation & support - e.g. coordinating agenda, collecting inputs, preparing meeting materials and recording meeting minutes
Governance of NFR Policies and Standards including coordination of periodic reviews
Custodian of Non-Financial Risk Management reference data management (process, risk and control taxonomies)
Lead the development of the NFR training curriculum & new hire onboarding
Support financial reporting reviews such as such as 10K/Q Disclosure & Risk Factor Reviews
Develop and lead non-financial risk scenario planning and analysis framework
Support regulatory inquiries, requests and filings
Regular reporting and analysis of self-identified issues (SII)
Essential Business and Technical Skills:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Accounting, Data Science, Engineering, or other related disciplines
5+ years of financial services experience; experience working in Risk / Compliance / Audit preferred
Proactive, intellectually curious, willing to challenge others and operate with a sense of urgency
Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
Prior experience managing complex initiatives strategic thinker with strong execution capabilities
Ability to manage shifting priorities to deliver results
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and conduct presentations and communicate with senior and executive management
Excellent interpersonal skills required to develop partnerships and relationships in a cross-functional environment
Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency
