IT Sr Associate, Application Administration, Levels 1 (Temporary)- Department of Instructional Computing and Information Technology (ICIT) -REVISED-

GENERAL DUTIES

I.T. Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Senior Associates perform a range of work in development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving highly complex projects. They have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects, and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group.

I.T. Senior Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines, decision-making ability in situations related to those disciplines, and be able to serve as a resource in these areas. They may contribute to decisions on I.T. policies and technical standards.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

We seek a highly skilled and motivated IT Senior Associate L1— IT Application Administrator to join our

dynamic IT team at Hunter College and provide essential IT services and support across various

departments and systems within our institution. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical

background with hands-on experience in system administration, database management, application

support, and project coordination. This role requires proactive problem-solving skills, excellent

communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to our stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Application and Database Management:

o Migrate and manage Microsoft SQL databases for applications to new servers as

required.

o Provide support for enterprise applications, including Titanium, Globodox, Online Photo

Submission, InstantID/IDWORKS, StarRez, Blackbaud, Access Control systems.

• SCCM and JAMF Administration:

o Package and deploy applications, Windows updates, and system settings using SCCM.

o Package and deploy applications, security updates, policy enforcement and system

settings using JAMF.

o Monitor SCCM infrastructure health, conduct regular audits, and implement

optimizations to ensure reliable performance.

o Develop and maintain SCCM task sequences, scripts, and deployment packages to

automate software installations and updates.

o Coordinate SCCM patch management processes, ensuring timely deployment of security

patches and updates across the organization.

o Troubleshoot SCCM-related issues, provide root cause analysis, and implement solutions

to resolve technical problems efficiently.

• System Support and Maintenance:

o Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Access Control Systems like Continuum,

AMAG, Transact, and other integrated systems.

o Support inventory systems like WebCheckout imports and conduct data cleanup

activities.

o Provide technical support to end-users, addressing issues related to servers,

virtualization, and directory services.

o Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve escalated technical problems

efficiently.

o Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, operating systems,

and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).

o Manage system infrastructure including Active Directory, group policies, and network

protocols to support organizational needs.

• Project Coordination and Upgrades:

o Coordinate and assist with system upgrades such as Transact Campus, ensuring

seamless integration and functionality post-upgrade.

o Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on software deployments and system

migrations.

• Technical Documentation and Support:

o Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues, providing in-depth analysis

and resolution.

o Respond to system outages and emergencies promptly, implementing effective

solutions to minimize downtime.

o Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge

sharing and compliance purposes.

o Provide technical support to end-users, addressing issues related to servers,

virtualization, and directory services.

o Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve escalated technical problems

efficiently.

• Security and Compliance:

o Support XDR rollout using SCCM, MDT, and JAMF, ensuring endpoint security and

compliance with institutional standards.

o Assist with compliance tasks such as license management and updates via SCCM and

JAMF.

• Collaboration and Training:

o Lead a team of technicians and collaborate with IT professionals across departments to

prioritize tasks and projects.

o Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to ensure seamless integration of

systems and services.

o Provide training and guidance to end-users on system-related best practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent

  2. An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position

  3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency

  4. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

COMPENSATION

IT Sr Associate - Levels 1-- $91,298 (salary subject to change based on new contract implementation and CUNY service history: 2024- $101,762; & 2025- $104,942)
