Job Background

Balance Sheet FP&A is a function recently created within FP&A, responsible to produce Balance sheet / NII forecasts across all firmwide forecasting exercises (QMMF, CCAR, Plan, Outlook) and that supports Balance sheet management and strategy through the design and implementation of consistent analytical frameworks (e.g., variance analysis, drivers’ attribution, resources costing etc.). The responsibility of the group in forecasting exercises goes from coordination of guidance (capital, liquidity, duration) to production of the forecasts and review & challenge with senior management. In addition to forecasting, Balance Sheet FP&A produces business-centric reports on actuals, assisting business decision-making with independent challenge and innovative analytics on balances trend, pricing, cost of resources, bringing such analytics to firmwide strategic forums (e.g. Deposits Forum, Balance Sheet Club)

Within Balance Sheet FP&A, Balance Sheet Architecture & Infrastructure (BSAI) unit is responsible for the design, engineering and implementation of technology solutions within FP&A target state architecture (e.g., Ruby - firmwide FP&A platform, CDA – Common Data Aggregation platform, MapHub, OneStream, Knime, Python). Those solutions support Balance Sheet FP&A teams to run streamlined process in controlled environments but also produce insightful analytics on financial performance, pricing analytics, NII attribution, Balance Sheet costing etc. The group is working with Balance Sheet FP&A Team, FP&A Business Execution Team and Technology to define priorities and design adequate solutions within budget and available technology.

Ideal candidate will possess the ability to work with multiple finance teams (FP&A, Treasury, Strategy) and synthesize complex issues into simple workstreams. A successful candidate will demonstrate his/ her ability to work autonomously, organizing one's work toward successful completion of clearly defined milestones he/she will have contributed to identify and syndicate. The combination of both strong communication skills, data management experience and technical competency in data analytics, process improvements and optimization techniques is required for the role. The role will lead the development of balance sheet analytical solutions which will support the senior management decision making of the firm’s balance sheet strategy and ensure connectivity with the design of the FTP, Liquidity Premium and other Costs and Resources attribution frameworks designed to incentivize the optimal use of Citi’s financial resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the design, roll-out and governance of financial solutions:

  • Participates in formulating and setting strategic direction for the process, organization and architecture covering Finance across Citi businesses, products, functions and locations

  • Assists in setting business and information architecture standards for Finance

  • Plays a part in settling and operating necessary forums and frameworks to establish and govern policies and starts for global Finance processes

  • Participates in assessing and incorporating changing business, regulatory and market information needs into finance processes and applications

  • Manages complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas.

  • Applies in-depth knowledge of the business impact of process design and technical contributions.

  • Accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions.

  • Help Balance Sheet FP&A produce high quality materials to concisely communicate insights and balance sheet strategic recommendations to Citi’s senior management and Business / Treasury teams

  • Ensure that new processes and analyses follow required governance and control per Citi’s Standards and Policies

  • Immediate book of work includes the following, subject to change:

  • Work with Treasury Finance to design the re-engineering of Treasury Revenues forecasting activities in Firmwide forecasting platform (Ruby) – partner with all the SMEs and stakeholders owning different pieces of the Reinvestment and Funding and Liquidity activities (CTI, CBNA and Intl Treasury, GLM, Capital, IRRBB, Markets Business Treasury)

  • Work with Tech partners to define the optimal solution to implement Treasury forecasting process – write tech and business requirements, help assess costs and benefits of several tech solutions and assist Tech in the development, implementation and testing of the solutions

  • Lead the design and development of a suite of agile analytical tools to produce balance sheet simulated forecasts to potential regulatory and macro conditions – work with Tech to integrate such tools into FP&A target architecture (CDA, Maphub, OneStream, Python)

  • Work with colleagues across Risk, Controllers / financial reporting units, and Capital and Liquidity reporting functions to source and aggregate data and metrics needed to develop a comprehensive representation of the firm’s balance sheet

  • Design, implement, and operate processes to streamline data sourcing in a systematic and transparent manner. Design data storage and visualization solution for easy access by Finance and Business.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience working in the finance industry, preferably working with both Tech and a Finance function (FP&A / Treasury / ALM)

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative-focused discipline from a top tier school; Masters or other relevant advanced qualification would be a plus

  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written, with the ability to interface directly with a wide variety of counterparts across functions / seniority

  • Strong Influencing skills with the ability to mediate discussions and draw consensus

  • Highly proficient in object-oriented language programming (e.g., Python, Java, C#), mathematical scripting languages (e.g., R, Matlab, Mathematica) and database management systems (e.g., MySQL)

  • Extensive experience in data management with the demonstrated ability to design database architecture and deploy and maintain database in desktop and cloud environments

  • Expert in the use of Excel, PowerPoint

  • Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to rapidly assimilate complex information across a variety of disciplines

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across business units / functions to deliver results

  • High energy, self-starter with a flexible and pragmatic attitude and a desire to show continued progress

$176,720.00 - $265,080.00
