Scholastic Email Marketing Lead in New York, New York

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a strategic and data-driven Email Marketing Manager to join Scholastic’s Digital Services division. Our division partners across all lines of business — Book Fairs, Book Clubs, Education Solutions, Entertainment, and Trade Publishing — to develop sophisticated data and digital strategies that strengthen our connection with readers, educators, and parents / families around the world.

Reporting into the Director of Email Marketing, the Email Marketing Manager will be instrumental in developing and executing email marketing and automation strategies across Scholastic’s businesses and stakeholders.

The Email Marketing Team supports various lines of businesses (i.e. internal clients) with acquiring, engaging, retaining and reactivating B2C and B2B customers, while optimizing key marketing and business KPIs. The Email Marketing team provides expertise in email marketing best practices, leveraging the right people, processes and tools to drive engagement and maximize response within the email channel.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive Business Goals: Develop and execute comprehensive B2B and B2C email marketing strategies that align with business goals and drive lead generation, nurture campaigns, revenue and customer retention.

  • Campaign Management :Oversee email marketing campaign management from end-to-end, including planning, audience targeting, audience segmentation, content development, deployment, deliverability, and performance analysis; oversee email scheduling/calendar.

  • Stakeholder Management + Cross Functional Collaboration : Partner cross-functionally and manage stakeholder relationships across multiple teams (e.g., Sales, Engineering, Customer Service, Design, etc) to ensure alignment of email campaigns with overall marketing initiatives.

  • Analytics and Reporting : performance tracking and analysis of email campaigns across metrics like open rates, click-through rates, conversion rates, RPME (Revenue per Email Sent) to measure success and identify areas for improvement.

  • Compliance : Ensure email marketing practices comply with privacy regulations, such as CAN-SPAM and CCPA.

  • A/B Testing : Manage A/B testing process across different email elements (like subject lines, send times, etc.) to optimize performance and drive growth.

  • Trend Analysis: Staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to keep the email marketing efforts innovative and effective.

Qualifications

HOW YOU CAN FIT (Qualifications)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required:

  • Experience working with leading marketing automation platforms (e.g., Marketo, Marketing Cloud Account Engagement, HubSpot) to automate and streamline email marketing workflows

  • Advanced understanding of B2B email marketing strategy, tactics and customer segmentation; Solid understanding of B2C email marketing strategy and tactics

Preferred:

  • Advanced Experience with enterprise email marketing platforms, such as Adobe Campaign, Pardot, Adobe Analytics, Adobe Experience Manager, Movable Ink, Validity, Marketo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud

  • Knowledge of HTML with ability to understand XML, Javascript and SQL

  • Experience working with external email marketing vendors to minimize outages, deploy system upgrades, and monitor general health of the system.

  • Strong analytics and strategic thinking skills with a creative problem-solving mindset.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a face-paced environment.

  • Advanced MS Excel skills (including pivot tables, vlookups, charts)

  • Ability to stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in email marketing as well as B2B marketing to drive continuous improvement

Experience: 7 - 9 years of proven email marketing experience, with emphasis on B2B
