JOB DESCRIPTION

The Editor, Commerce will primarily focus on the publication of commerce content from our freelancer pool of experts. The Editor, Commerce will manage the freelancer team, including sourcing writers, sending assignments and editing their copy. Due to the content production oversight of this role, it is vital that candidates have a strong editorial background and SEO expertise, preferably in journalism, commerce, marketing or other related fields.

The Editor, Commerce also assist and facilitate tasks of the larger editorial commerce team. Additional responsibilities include analyzing metrics, trends/market research and presenting key takeaways/findings to internal stakeholders.

This person should be a multitasker who can work effectively and efficiently while managing multiple writers and supporting other cross-organization initiatives as needed.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the freelancer editorial process from start to finish - story ideation, creating content briefs, sending assignments, editing and production of commerce content.

  • Manage freelance writers, including acting as primary point of contact, and utilizing editorial expertise to optimize content quality.

  • Work closely with the larger editorial commerce team to determine which commerce pitches should be assigned to stringers.

  • Part of the core editorial team strategizing coverage for tentpole shopping events like Prime Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

  • Interface with the Finance Department to facilitate freelance invoice payments.

  • Participate in commerce meetings to further growth, including: metrics analysis, story performance, future story ideas and promotions.

  • Use analytics platforms/dashboards to understand real-time and historical data and trends to better inform decision-making on a daily basis and for future partnerships.

  • Monitor and research trends and opportunities in the affiliate commerce landscape. Based on these trends, create strategies and recommendations to grow new partnerships and strengthen existing ones.

  • Explore and pursue ways to grow the partnerships via content coverage.

  • Assist with content-related cross-FOX initiatives

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • 5 years' worth of digital experience (preferably in journalism or content-related affiliate commerce/marketing), including SEO expertise

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including application of AP style

  • Knowledge of analytics platforms (Ex: Adobe Analytics, Chartbeat, etc.)

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills, meticulous and consistent follow up

  • Highly analytical, ability to interpret data, recognizing inflection points and key insights

  • Exceptional understanding of affiliate marketing landscape and ecosystem, key players, revenue models, etc.

  • Strong management skills

We will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories consistent with applicable law.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $75,000.00-105,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
