In recent years, that work has extended to a broad array of challenging, long-term policy issues such as retirement, energy security, financial technology, and critical infrastructure.
This role is for a Director of Regulatory Affairs on the US Government Affairs & Public Policy team with a legal background and deep expertise in financial services policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Define BlackRock’s policy position and engagement strategy on key issues impacting investors, collaborating closely with Legal & Compliance and other teams within BlackRock the firm to develop policy perspectives and create alignment of views.
Review key legislative and regulatory proposals and provide technical recommendations and legal expertise.
Author and review comment letters, consultation responses, white papers and other relevant correspondence with policymakers.
Prepare presentation materials for engagement with policymakers, regulators, and clients.
Lead engagement with and presentations to policy makers, regulators, trade associations, and clients on key issues, representing BlackRock’s views.
Research issues of critical importance to the industry and take initiative to identify/implement engagement and response strategies with legislators and regulators.
Build and maintain deep networks of contacts both within BlackRock and externally with relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and J.D. from a nationally-recognized law school.
7-10+ years of work experience in financial services, law firm or technology company with a focus on the policy, legal and/or regulatory matters related to digital assets, crypto assets, blockchain technology, artificial intelligence and/or other emerging financial technology issues.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Must be able to present complex concepts in a concise and understandable way.
Strong content creation skills in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Strong research and writing skills; strategic and creative thinking aptitude.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple ongoing deliverables and tight deadlines.
Ability to clearly articulate ideas to senior internal and external audiences, including leaders within the firm, outside counsel, clients, and third-party organizations.
Good judgment and impeccable ethics; desire to succeed in a demanding, innovative, entrepreneurial environment.
Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$194,000.00 - USD$270,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
For Washington, DC Only the salary range for this position is USD$184,000.00 - USD$250,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
