New York Life Insurance Company seeks Corporate Vice President, Test Engineer - Quality Assurance in New York, NY, to work with product streams to perform Quality Assurance (QA) evaluations, examine upstream and downstream system impacts, and facilitate testing requirements for the overall product release. Manage onshore and offshore testing resources for the successful development and execution of detailed test cases and test scripts. Mentor and develop junior QA testing resources, impart domain knowledge, and provide guidance through the testing process. Prepare testing strategy documents and high-level QA estimations for all projects. Analyze and define QA testing strategies and maintains overall test plans and strategies that drive and govern the execution of multiple projects and initiatives. Document test automation strategies and framework for project adoption, and review and approve estimates submitted by Testers. Review test plans and scripts documented by the QA team according to the approved test strategy document, and approve test plans and scripts before the commencement of test execution. Manage the testing life cycle (Waterfall or Agile) depending on the type of approach defined in the test strategy. Run checkpoint calls with Testers to track the status and progress of test execution. Review testing results and approve code for User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Review changes with UAT business partners and be accountable for obtaining UAT approval. Review and approve final test closure reports and secure approval for build phase gate purposes. Monitor and identify risks during testing, document mitigation plans, and drive consensus with respective stakeholders. Work with the Test Center of Excellence (TCOE) to ensure effective implementation and usage of test management processes and tools for all initiatives. Participate on the company's Test Strategy review board to review and approve the test strategies across technology organizations. Interface with Test Shared Services concerning testing automation, performance, and security testing. Support Data Analysts in the definition of the test data management approach. Identify test data to ensure it satisfies Production test conditions and work with Test Data Management teams to load the appropriate policies to the QA environment. Support the Environment Manager in the establishment and validation of the testing environment and support Testers in the definition of application and integration test scenarios and the preparation of test scripts and data. Track key testing metrics and communicate progress towards overall testing goals to the IT core team and business stakeholders. Requires: Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Electronic Engineering (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus three (3) years of experience performing testing across integration, functional, regression, ETL, databases, cloud applications, and highly-integrated complex environments or, alternatively, a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Electronic Engineering (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience performing testing across integration, functional, regression, ETL, databases, cloud applications, and highly-integrated complex environments. Specific skills/other requirements - Experience must include 3 years in all components of each of the following skills: 1) Building and developing Quality Assurance (QA) strategies and implementing “best practices” for automation leveraging Agile methodology and test-driven development (TDD) frameworks; 2) Developing test frameworks and test cases leveraging stored procedures, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), JIRA, JSON files, SOAPUI, Postman, and cloud data; 3) Building, executing, and analyzing automation test suites for SSIS business rules, data quality, case management, extract, transform, load (ETL) (including SSIS, Ab Initio, and Informatica), user experience, user dashboards, and reports (including SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), PowerBI, Cognos, and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE); 4) Developing complex SQL scripts and automating source to target data validation, flat files, and Excel for database checks, transformation rules, and business logic validation leveraging Oracle, MS SQL Server, and SnowFlake databases; and 5) Mentoring junior-level testing resources to strategize and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality deliverables.
