The Team

The Healthcare Industry Group, a subsidiary of A& M, leads transformational change in healthcare. How you will contribute
As a Consultant you will be working closely with healthcare clients on a range of complex assignments. You will work in a team environment while using your independent judgment and critical thinking skills to provide practical solutions and add value for our clients. The position is a unique opportunity to develop and grow key skills in the diverse and ever-changing Healthcare Industry. This role requires a flexible clear thinker with an aptitude for design and an eye for "zero-defect" work. While this role is primarily client-facing and operational, the Associate will also be expected to support marketing, R& D, and additional roles as determined by client and/or internal practice needs. Depending on the client project the responsibilities of an Associate may typically include:

  • Build and maintain financial and operational models to assess and monitor client performance.
  • Develop cash flow forecasts, analyze liquidity positions, and support clients in managing their short-term and long-term financial resources.
  • Support the planning and structuring of financial transactions, including debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Conduct internal and external benchmarking analyses, gathering and analyzing data to identify performance gaps and best practices.
  • Map out client processes, contribute to project planning, and provide ongoing support for both client engagements and internal A& M initiatives.
  • Calculate operating losses, project potential cost savings, and quantify the financial impact of proposed performance improvement initiatives.
  • Perform detailed analyses of operational and financial data and develop clear, concise reports and client-ready deliverables, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Conduct operational data analysis to support the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, contributing to client performance management frameworks.
  • Participate in client interviews, effectively capturing key information, documenting actionable items, and contributing to client understanding.
  • Evaluate client business operations, identify areas for improvement, and support the implementation of performance improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare client-ready presentations and contribute to the delivery of presentations to client teams.
  • Conduct healthcare industry research and contribute to the development of presentations, pitch materials, and proposal content, staying informed of industry trends and best practices.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of three (3) years of prior work experience in healthcare, including but not limited to consulting or healthcare industry such as healthcare banking, accounting, audit, private equity, managed care, health plans or healthcare operations.
  • BA/BS degree and/or MBA/MS in Accounting, Finance, or other related healthcare fields such as MHA or MPH.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or demonstrated progress toward such certifications are a plus.
  • A strong understanding of accounting and finance including the ability to review and understand financial statements and disclosures; exposure to debt and equity transactions is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare industry preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and modeling skills including the ability to prepare and maintain financial and operational models.
  • Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint and Word skills is a must; experience with Tableau, SQL, Power BI, healthcare operational benchmarking, MGMA survey data is a plus.
  • Ability to conduct operational data analysis and synthesize information to assist in the development of reports and KPI metrics.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to communicate with and present information to all levels of client personnel.
  • Solid project management and organizational skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.

The salary range is $90, 000 - $115, 000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A& M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.

Regular employees working 30 or more hours per week are also entitled to participate in Alvarez & Marsal Holdings' fringe benefits consisting of healthcare plans, flexible spending and savings accounts,
life, AD& D, and disability coverages at rates determined periodically as well as a 401(k) retirement savings plan. Provided the eligibility requirements are met, employees will also receive an annual discretionary contribution to their 401(k) retirement savings plan from Alvarez & Marsal. Additionally, employees are eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, seventy-two (72) hours of sick time (prorated for part time employees), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave.
