Description

The Center for Public Research and Leadership (CPRL) seeks an Associate Research Scholar to work under the supervision of CPRL's Director to:

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research on issues related to pre-k through 12 public education and public institutions more broadly. Design research and consulting strategy and methodology for projects; execute and adapt strategy and methodology based on type of project, gather information, and client feedback; communicate strategy, vision, methodology, and outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage, support and mentor teams of graduate and professional students in designing and implementing research and consulting projects in the pre-k through 12 education sector.
  • Design, execute, and analyze data collection in line with research objectives.
  • Prepare and disseminate research findings.
  • Write research proposals and assist in securing external funding through grants and other funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, graduate students, and external partners on interdisciplinary research projects.
  • Stay current with advancements in the field through literature reviews, workshops, and networking within academic communities.

This is a 12-month position, with the possibility of renewal contingent on funding.

The Center for Public Research and Leadership (CPRL) is a partnership of professional schools that prepares graduate students for leadership positions in public education organizations committed to improving the life chances of all children, particularly those of color, from low-income households, or otherwise traditionally underserved. The program brings together upper-level graduate students in business, education, law, and policy from universities across the nation to study and engage in research and consulting projects serving public- and social-sector organizations in the U.S. and Brazil that are undertaking and supporting transformational change in P-12 education and in the public sector as a whole. The program offers graduate students the rigorous, multi-disciplinary, academic, and experiential preparation they need to flourish in exciting leadership, management, and professional positions in those same organizations while simultaneously offering the organizations high-quality research and consulting support

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • J.D., J.D equivalent, or LLM
  • Strong academic qualifications and a familiarity with education law and policy
  • Candidates should have excellent writing, research, analytic, leadership and communication skills, and be able to work well with a team.
  • 3-5+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in modeling and analyzing qualitative and/or quantitative data and in matching research methodologies to client and project requirements.
  • Experience as a P-12 teacher or experience teaching/mentoring young professionals.
