How will you make an impact in this role?

The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (GRC) is an independent risk management function, led by the Chief Risk Officer, with the objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound, and fully compliant manner with all applicable regulatory expectations. GRC creates and maintains the overall risk management framework, performs independent risk management assessments, and monitors applicable risks.

Compliance Risk Management Governance (CRMG) within GRC facilitates and monitors the implementation of effective compliance risk management programs throughout the organization, and oversees risk ownership throughout business units, products, and processes. The objective of CRMG is to develop, oversee and strengthen the organization’s Compliance Risk Management framework to ensure that governance structures, policies, and procedures are robust, effective, and align with regulatory requirements and best practices.

CRMG is looking for an Analyst who will be responsible for supporting the Compliance New Product Approval (NPA) Governance Program. The Analyst will be responsible for communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including Compliance Officers, Control Management (CM), General Counsel’s Organization (GCO), and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). This role will support the monitoring and oversight of the and Compliance Change Management Committee (CMCC) reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and support the development and implementation of robust reporting and oversight mechanisms to manage new product risk and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with management of new product assessment process, including monitoring and oversight of New Product Compliance Risk Assessment (NPCRA) process in Archer.

  • Track and respond to requests for support received in Compliance NPA Governance team email account, escalating issues for leadership review as needed.

  • Manage Compliance NPA Governance Square site and maintain stakeholder directory.

  • Conduct weekly quality reviews for new product assessments and reach out to teams to request corrections as needed.

  • Support design and execution of communications strategy for impacted GCO, Compliance Officer, and Control Management stakeholders across all Business Units and markets.

  • Assist with creating reports and dashboards for committee reporting, highlighting analysis and trends for leadership review and discussion.

  • Complete testing of controls related to application access and UAT for planned system enhancements in accordance with Agile methodology.

  • Maintain documentation related to backlog of process and system enhancements, including supporting the creation of business requirements and prioritization of user stories.

  • Provide support for strategic initiatives and ad hoc projects, including responses to audit and regulator requests.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 Years experience in compliance, operational control, risk management, and/or product management

  • Experience with business need and requirements creation, documentation, and testing

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and align diverse stakeholders.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making

  • Proven ability to distill complex issues into clear, simple messages for diverse audiences.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to identify dependencies, resolve issues, and ensure timely project delivery.

  • Experience with data analytics and risk management practices

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, law, business, or a related field. advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, CRCM) are a plus.

  • Risk management and/or regulatory experience particularly involving new product governance.

  • Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with all levels of management.

  • Effective time management and organizational skills

  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office products including Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to understand and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and to prioritize accordingly.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
