The anticipated salary range for this role is between $97,000.00 and $156,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
Reporting into the Managing Director, Compliance Data and Analytics, in the Compliance Department, Americas Division, the Data Analytics Associate performs detailed analytics work in an independent fashion in support of the Compliance Analytics group’s goals and objectives. This position is focused on support for Compliance Department’s E-Communications surveillance business, and will perform analysis in support of the design, implementation, and enhancement of e-comms surveillance systems, including large language model surveillance models.
Role Objectives
Research, test, and provide recommendations on configuration, business parameters, and day-to-day operations of Actimize Surveil-X E-communications model.
Liaise with and support stakeholder teams to perform periodic model tuning/testing exercises.
Assist in investigations and root cause analyses for issues and exceptions related to Actimize Surveil-X application.
Develop MIS reports for submission to senior Branch management.
Work with Japan Research Institute-America partners to develop and test tools and systems in line with policy and regulatory expectations.
Collect, aggregate, and analyze e-communications data to identify trends and evaluate changes in e-communications risk exposure.
Develop knowledge of new analytical techniques and data sources that provide ongoing risk mitigation, and how emerging data and technology issues may impact the achievement of Compliance Department’s objectives.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, or other related field).
4 to 7 years of BSA/AML compliance experience, particularly with data, platforms, and data management
Experience with some or all of the following technologies to build analysis and drive insights from data:
Actimize Surveil-X Communications Surveillance (v4.8)
ActOne (v6.6)
Large Language Models
Database: Oracle (PL/SQL), Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL)
Reporting tools: PowerBI, Excel
Experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Office suite.
Strong reasoning ability and analytical skills.
Maintains high level of confidentiality; unquestionable character, integrity and professionalism.
