Pratt Institute Research Development Specialist (71101) in BROOKLYN, New York

Develop and coordinate programs in support of early career researchers at Pratt, including proposal writing training and one-on-one support. Offer wraparound support for faculty pursuing large-scale proposals, including project planning and management, the drafting of institutional statements, and comprehensive, multi-stage review. Develop programming to encourage faculty pursuit of large-scale proposals including transdisciplinary collaborations; such as, facilitating proposal planning sessions with shareholders. Execute proposal processes and procedures providing best practices for proposal development and streamlining faculty responses to major funding opportunities with the establishment and nurturing of research teams and strategic partnerships. Develop, advertise, and support activities that position faculty, fellows, and students for future sponsored research opportunities. Identify and promote specific funding opportunities and build teams to ensure effective communication channels and appropriate interaction with departments and/or groups on campus to support the development of large-scale proposals (including large transdisciplinary proposals) and projects based on team science and scholarship. Coordinate Pratt's limited submission and internal competitions processes (including for internal funding competitions) to ensure that they proceed in a fair and timely manner. Seek out resources to build Pratt's research development infrastructure, including external funding to build research capacity, and operational support. Promote Pratt's research profile through the publication of public-facing content and other events that invite public shareholders to partner with Pratt and Partner strategically with institutional and community counterparts. Assist in the development of grant proposal budgets in collaboration with the grant development/project lead, PI(s), and collaborators; ensures compliance with requirements stipulated in Institute policies, as well as RFPs, LOIs and funding agency guidelines. Work Modality and Schedule: Master's degree in a related field and demonstrated research ability. Minimum three years' experience in research administration. The strongest candidates will have at least five years of related experience in research administration in higher education or non-profit environments. Experience with federal, state, city, and private funding agencies guidelines, policies and procedures. Past experience in grant prospecting, budgeting, faculty mentorship, and writing. Outstanding professional writing skills, with the ability to adjust tone and mode based on audience. Excellent organization, planning, interpersonal, and networking skills. Detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, creatively resolve problems, and work in a fast-paced environment. Confident managing multiple project and operations timelines simultaneously, with the ability to coordinate across multiple team members, enforce deadlines, and streamline communications. Ability to interact in a professional manner with all levels of faculty, staff, outside groups and a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Demonstrated intercultural competence with an understanding of the importance of diversity in higher education. Strong knowledge of digital productivity and collaboration tools, including: MS Word, PowerPoint, and Google Suite and Asana. Ability to work independently and take a proactive approach.
