National Grid LNG Apprentice in Brooklyn, New York
Become familiar with the mechanical and electrical operation of LNG plant equipment
Assist in the inspection, troubleshooting, repair and overhaul of various equipment and machinery at the LNG Plant such as electric or engine driven pumps, compressors, boilers, vaporizers and their associated systems and controls.
Assisting in all types of work associated with troubleshooting, operating, maintenance, calibration,adjusting,and installing all plant instruments and controls, both mechanical and electrical.
Adjusting, repairing, calibrating, and installing automatic control equipment which requires a thorough knowledge of the systems and their controls. Willing to learn the basic principles of AC and DC electricity and applying knowledge by working from electrical diagrams and sketches to test,repair, and troubleshoot controls.
Using such types of testers as ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters, dead weight testers, etc. May work on or near energized circuits or equipment. Instructing and training other control personnel on the job.
Performing construction and installation of special types of instrumentation and controls. Installing small piping and tubing.
Read, interpret plans, drawings, and specifications for above work.
Performing similar or less skilled work as may be assigned.
Must be able to climb cold boxes and LNG Tanks. Must pass LNG Physical.
Valid NYS Driver's license is required
Employees must progress to the top step rate of this position.
To be eligible for progression increases, applicants must demonstrate satisfactory performance,complete all on-the-job training and in-house training programs established for this classification
Experience
Employees will be expected to work overtime in accordance with departmental requirements.
Employees selected for this classification will be required to participate in federally mandated drug testing programs prior to selection, randomly on a year-round basis, after an accident, and for reasonable cause.

Employees selected for this classification will be required to complete a Background Investigation asrequired by the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS).
Employees will be required to take the ACO screening exam and Mechanic B Plate test
Pass Field Assessment Test
Pay rate: $ 27.68 per hour

Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
